Your digestive system plays a significant role in determining your overall health; all the nutrients we consume are all made available to the body because of your gut system. The better it's working, the more able it is to supply energy, make tissues, and support numerous metabolic reactions taking place in your body. 

 

How Do I Know my Digestive System is on Point?

While several symptoms indicate something is wrong with your digestive systems, such as acidity and flatulence, digestive system functioning at its best is evident through some signs that you can assess.

Regular Bowel Movements

The frequency varies from person to person, and there is no fixed frequency that indicates the best standard for passing a stool. 

 

Stool Appearance

Some people might be reluctant to notice, but how your stool looks in the toilet has to say a lot about your digestive health. A healthy stool is similar in consistency to a sausage with maybe a few cracks; however, it balances firm and soft. The color should be somewhere between medium to dark brown. Your stool should be comfortable to flush and should not stick to the sides of the toilet flush. There should be no remains of undigested food; what's more, the odor should not be specifically foul, though the characteristic smell is all right. 

 

Gas Production

Passing gas or burping is normal, and it does not indicate that something is wrong unless it exceeds the range of 14 to 23 times a day. Many symbiotic bacteria are living in our gut, the large intestine, that produce gas when they break down any chunk of undigested food in the body. It might also occur when someone swallows some air while they are eating or drinking something. 

Foods that are known to cause gas are those that contain different components not easily digestible by the gut. 

These include most fruits, broccoli, wheat, Brussel sprouts, beans, peas, cabbage, and other cruciferous vegetables. 

 

Absence of Digestive Symptoms

Symptoms like regular bloating, abdominal discomfort, constipation, nausea, or diarrhea indicate different digestive problems. If the symptoms seem to persist, you need to consult a healthcare professional who will suggest you with a suitable treatment route.
